How to calculate how much fabric to buy
Fabric length depends on roll width, piece count, seam allowance, shrinkage and print direction—not just total area.
A reliable method
Write down each finished piece size, add allowances on every edge, then apply shrinkage. Calculate how many pieces fit across the usable fabric width. The number of rows determines the required roll length. Do not rotate pieces when grain, nap or print direction matters.
